THE STORY
1996
🇨🇭Chalet Suisse🇨🇭
Chalet Swiss was founded in 1996 by Mr Heinz Bauert. Born and educated in Horgen, on the shores of Lake Zurich, he trained as a chef and spent decades in the hospitality industry before setting out to create a little slice of Switzerland in Kuala Lumpur.
Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a cosy alpine chalet, with a warm, traditional Swiss interior unlike any other restaurant in Malaysia. Ever since opening, the restaurant has served a genuine taste of Switzerland. Over the years it has also become a meeting place for the Swiss community, a home for social gatherings, the regulars’ Stammtisch, weekly games of Jass (the traditional Swiss card game), and many good meals among friends.
2015
🇨🇭Chalet Suisse🇨🇭
In 2015, Mr Bauert passed away unexpectedly after a sudden illness. Determined that his legacy should live on, five of his close friends, Bohi, Bernhard Schobert, Manfred, Allenspach and Rudolf Messmer, stepped in. All longtime regulars and loyal patrons of the restaurant, they invested their own capital to renovate it and keep it running. In that difficult time, the whole Swiss community came together to honour Mr Bauert and preserve the restaurant he loved.
2025

In 2025, Peter Wyss became the new owner, ushering in a new era as Chalet Suisse transitions to Chalet Swiss. Honoring tradition while preparing for the 30th anniversary, Peter brings a deeper Alpine touch—ensuring Chalet Swiss remains the home of authentic Swiss hospitality for years to come.

The Chalet Swiss Stammtisch is our regular Swiss community gathering, held every 3rd Tuesday of the month.
Inspired by the Swiss tradition of a shared community table, Stammtisch is a relaxed evening for friends, guests, Swiss connections, and anyone who enjoys good conversation in a warm Alpine setting.
It is a place to meet familiar faces, make new connections, enjoy authentic Swiss hospitality, and feel at home around the table.

Are prices inclusive of service charge and taxes?
Yes. Menu prices are listed in Ringgit Malaysia and are inclusive of service charge and applicable taxes. No tiny accounting ambush at the end, mercifully.
Do I need to make a reservation?
Reservations are recommended, especially for fondue, raclette, private dining, events, weekends, and Stammtisch evenings. This helps us prepare properly and serve you with the care expected from Swiss hospitality.

Fresh from Our Chalet Kitchen
Our Gourmet Shop brings Swiss comfort from our kitchen to your home. Enjoy our home-baked bread, sourdough, and Swiss Sunday Bread, made fresh in small batches with care and tradition.
Because good bread should never taste like it survived a committee meeting, we bake based on demand. Special orders are prepared fresh for the next day.
